What Our Clients Say

Student Visa Services We Offer

The right visa can open doors to education, internships, cultural exchange, and future career paths. But first, it has to be done right.

Our team helps students and their families understand what’s required and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

There are 3 main types of student visas in the U.S.:

  • F visas for university, high school, language, and other academic programs
  • M visas for vocational and technical programs
  • J visas for specific educational programs such as EAP or Fulbright

F visas are the most common, but depending on your circumstances, one of the other two visas might be a better fit. Deciding which status affords you the best opportunity is where we usually start.

Our student visa services include:

  • Applying for F-1, M-1, or J-1 visas
  • Reviewing your Form I-20 and confirming eligibility before you apply
  • Completing and submitting your online application (DS-160)
  • Preparing you for your visa interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate
  • Helping your spouse or children apply for dependent visas (F-2, M-2, or J-2)
  • Requesting changes or extensions if your program or plans shift
  • Filing reinstatements if your visa status is accidentally lost or interrupted

Every application we handle is treated with care and attention to detail. We know how much is riding on this application, and we understand the consequences that studying in the U.S. can have for your future.

The Student Visa Application Process

While applying for a student visa can seem complicated, the process becomes more manageable when you have an experienced immigration attorney in your corner.

Once you’re accepted into a qualifying school or program, the school gives you a form called the I-20. This form is your ticket to starting the visa application. From there, you’ll fill out an online application, pay a few required fees, and schedule your visa interview.

During the interview, a consular officer will ask about your school, how you plan to pay for your studies, and what your plans are after graduation. If approved, your visa will allow you to enter the U.S. shortly before your program begins.

Here’s what the process usually looks like:

  • Get accepted into a U.S. school that’s certified to enroll international students
  • Receive your Form I-20 and pay the SEVIS fee
  • Submit your online visa application (Form DS-160) and pay the visa fee
  • Schedule your visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate
  • Attend the interview with all required documents and answer questions honestly
  • If approved, you’ll be able to travel to the U.S. up to 30 days before your program starts

Once in the U.S., it’s important to follow the rules of your visa, like staying enrolled full-time and getting permission before working or taking a break from classes.

How We Help With Student Visas

At Ibrahim Law Global, we start by listening. We want to know about your goals, your concerns, and what’s most important to you and your family.

From there, we take the lead on the paperwork and preparation, including gathering the right documents and helping you get ready for your interview.

We know the details matter. A small mistake in your application or a confusing interview answer can lead to delays – or worse, a denial. Our job is to prevent that.

Here’s how we do it:

  • We listen first. Every client has a unique story. We’ll take the time to understand yours, with compassion and without judgment.
  • We build strong, evidence-based cases. We put together detailed applications that show the full picture.
  • We fully prepare you for all interviews and hearings. We always make sure to stand by your side during any interviews or hearings, when possible.
  • We don’t waste time. We know how long these cases can drag out. That’s why we regularly check on case status, communicate updates, and never leave you guessing.
  • We take cases to federal court when needed. If USCIS or immigration court fails to act, we’re ready to file mandamus lawsuits or appeals to fight for your rights.

We believe that every student deserves a chance to succeed. And we’ll make sure the immigration process doesn’t stand in your way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I work while studying in the U.S.?

Yes, but only in limited ways. Most students can work part-time on campus, and may be eligible for optional training programs after graduation. It’s important to fill out the proper work authorization applications before taking a job, as unauthorized employment is a violation of your immigration status. We can help you fill out the right forms and get started on your career.

Can my family come with me?

Yes. Spouses and children can apply for F-2, M-2, or J-2 visas, though they cannot work or study full-time in most cases.

What do I need to show in my visa interview?

You’ll need to show that you’ve been accepted to a qualified school, that you can afford your stay, and that you plan to return home after finishing your studies. Talk to an experienced immigration lawyer to help you prepare your interview answers.

What if my visa is denied?

You have a number of options if your application for a student visa is denied. We can help you understand why it was denied and whether it’s possible to reapply or correct any issues. In some cases, you may be able to appeal your application denial or even take your case to federal court.

Can I stay in the U.S. after I graduate?

Some students may qualify for Optional Practical Training (OPT) or other work visas after finishing school. However, if you want to work full-time in the U.S., you may want to apply for a work visa or even a green card.
